JEE Main application form for 2023 has been released by NTA (National Testing Agency) for both the JEE Main 2023 January and April attempts. The application form for JEE Main 2023 is available online on the NTA and JEE Main websites. This year, the exam will be conducted twice a year i.e. in the months of January and April 2023.

You can fill up the registration form for January 2023 attempt from 15th December 2022 to 12th January 2023. For the JEE Mains April 2023 attempt. the registration forms are expected to open in March 2023.

If you are a JEE Main aspirant and meet the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria, you can apply for the JEE Main 2023 (January and April attempts).

The application form for JEE Main January 2023 exam is available from 15th December 2022 and the last date for form submission is 12th January 2023.  For the JEE Main April 2023 attempt, you can expect the registration to open in the second week March 2023.

At the time of filling the JEE Main application form, you can choose the exam centres from the list of JEE Main centres.

Latest Updates in the process of filling the JEE Main 2023 Application Form

While the process of filling the JEE Main 2023 application form is similar to the application forms for the previous attempts, but there are a few things that you need to remember in the application form filling process:

  • As the JEE Main 2023 examination will be conducted two times in a year, there will be a separate application form for each of the attempts.
  • NTA has revised the JEE Main application fee structure for JEE Main 2023. See the revised JEE Main application fee here.
  • To apply for JEE Main 2023, you can use your Aadhaar Card, bank account details, ration card number, Passport Number or any other valid Govt. identification provided.
  • Your parent’s or guardian’s signatures are not required for filling the JEE Main 2023 application form
  • Age restriction for JEE Main 2023 application has been removed. Now, if you have passed class 12th examination in 2020 or 2021 or are planning to appear in the upcoming 2023 class 12th examination, you are eligible to fill the JEE Main application form and can appear for JEE Main 2023 irrespective of your D.O.B.

Documents required for JEE Main Online Application

NTA has simplified the process of filling the application form by reducing the list of documents required. You need to keep the following documents and details ready at the time of filling the JEE Main application form:

  • Government-approved ID proof such as Aadhaar Card or any other proof
    • In case, you are from the state of J&K, Assam and Meghalaya, you can apply using your passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government identification
  • Your class X and class XII Certificate
  • Your valid email id
  • Your current mobile number (please enter only valid mobile number where NTA can send you SMS)
  • Scanned image of your photograph
  • Scanned image of your signature

JEE Main Application fee and payment process

You can make payment for the application fee for JEE Main through the following modes:

  • credit card/debit card
  • net banking / UPI
  • PAYTM wallet

In case you are making payment of JEE Main 2023 application fees through credit/debit card, Net banking or PAYTM and the website shows the status of the payment as Not OK, it would imply that the transaction has been cancelled and the amount that you have paid will be automatically refunded to your concerned credit/debit card within 7 – 10 working days. You will need to pay the application fee for JEE Main again and ensure that the website shows the Payment status as OK.

Correction of errors in the Application form for JEE Main

Please ensure that the information that you enter in the JEE Main application form is correct in all respects. There’s no provision for correction in the application form, once submitted.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2023 Application

Step-by-step process to filling JEE Main 2023 Application Form

To fill out the application form, you should first register for JEE Main 2023 exam. After completing the registration process, you will be able to complete the application process. To know how to register for JEE Main read the article and then follow the steps below.

The entire process of JEE Main 2023 application is completely online including uploading of scanned images and fee payment. You have to apply for JEE Main 2023 in online mode only.

All fee payments need to be in online or e-challan mode only. No payments should be made in offline mode or via money order, demand draft, IPO, etc. Such offline payments would not be accepted.

After completing the registration process for JEE Main 2023 January/April Attempt, click on ‘Complete Application Form’.

Follow the below steps to fill out the JEE 2023 Application form

Step 1: Fill up your application form based on the following guidelines:

Section 1: Personal Details

Here you need to enter your parent’s name, category, nationality and other details.

If you belong to the category, ‘Other Backward Classes (OBC) – Non-Creamy Layer’ as per the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India, you should also mention OBC in the Category column. However, if you fall under ‘State list OBC Candidates’ and are not in ‘OBC-NCL (Central List)’, you should choose ‘General’ in the category column.

Section 2: Fill Aadhar Card Details

In this section, you need to enter your JEE Main Application Number, your name, gender and date of birth (as mentioned on your Aadhar card).

After filling these details, you will be asked whether you wish to share your Aadhar details for verification.

You can choose to select “I voluntarily agree to share my ……” or you can choose not to share the Aadhar number. In case you decline to share the Aadhar number, you would need an alternate government issued identity card.

Section 3A: Choosing JEE Mains exam center and language medium

In this section, you need to select the exam-related details as mentioned below

  1. You need to first select the exam you are applying for, i.e., Paper 1 or Paper 2 or both papers of JEE Main.
  2. Select 4 cities in which you want to appear for the JEE Main exam. Select the cities in the order of preference, i.e., the most preferred city should be chosen first. Please read the List of JEE Main Exam centers before filling in the choices.
  3. Select the question paper medium, i.e., English, Hindi or 11 regional languages.

Please note: The mode of examination for JEE Main paper-1 will be in computer-based mode (CBT) only.

Section 3B: Enter your Parents Education Details

Enter your father’s, mother’s and/or guardian’s qualification and occupation details.

Section 4: Education Details

Enter your details of passing Class 10th and Class 12th as asked in the JEE Main online application form.

For students who are scheduled to appear in Class 12/PUC – 2 examinations in 2023, the ‘Pass Status’ will be ‘Appearing’.

Section 5: Additional Details

This is only applicable in the case of twins. If you do not have a twin brother or sister, you should select ‘No’.

Section 6: Security pin

Enter the text (security pin) shown in the image. The security pin is case-sensitive. Then click on ‘SUBMIT’.

Section 7: Emergency Contact Details

Provide details for emergency contact including email address and mobile number along with ISD code.

Step 2: Details Verification

Now review your JEE Main application form before submitting it. Check every detail in the application form and if you want to make any changes, click on ‘Edit Application Form’ at the bottom.

If everything is correct, check all the boxes in the ‘Particulars Checklist to be verified’ and ‘Declaration’ at the bottom, then click on ‘FINAL SUBMIT’ to submit your JEE Main application form.

There will be a popup on the screen asking you ‘Do you wish to submit Application Form finally?’. Click ‘YES’.

Step 3: Document Upload

Now you need to upload your photograph and signature. Click on ‘Upload Images’ and upload the scanned photos in the respective fields. Please take note of the following before uploading the images:

  1. Your photograph should be a passport size photograph with your name and the date at which the photo was taken written below. This is a sample of how your photograph should be.

  1. Keep the scanned images in JPEG/JPG format only.
  2. Ensure that the file size of the scanned photograph is between 10 KB to 200 KB.
  3. The signature should be in running hand on a white paper. The dimensions of the signature should not be more than 3.5 cm (width) × 1.5 cm (height).
  4. Ensure that the file size of the scanned signature is between 4 KB to 30 KB.
  5. You should keep 6-8 identical photographs which will be required at the time of the entrance exam, seat allocation and admission process.

Please note that 80% of the face should be without mask.

Enter the text (security pin) shown in the image. The security pin is case-sensitive. Now, click the declaration checkbox to verify that you have uploaded the images carefully and click on ‘UPLOAD’.

Step 4: Pay Examination Fee

After uploading the images, the last step in filling the application form is the payment of the Application fee. Then click on the button ‘Pay Examination Fee’ to complete the application process.

Now select the mode of payment Online Payment to make the payment using Net Banking/Debit card/Credit card. You can make the payment using the following payment options on the SBI MOPS payment gateway:

  1. Debit Card
  2. Net Banking
  3. Credit Cards (Domestic/International)
  4. UPI

Select the mode of payment and click PROCEED FOR PAYMENT to make the payment. After making the payment, you would be redirected to the ‘Application form page’. Remember to verify that the Application Status of each of the stages on this screen is shown as Complete.

Click on Download Confirmation Page on the left-hand side of the screen and take at least 4 printouts of the Application Confirmation Page for future reference. You do not need to send this Confirmation page of the JEE Main application form submission to NTA.

Step 5: Now you can safely log out of the account.

Ensure that you have completed all the above-mentioned steps, otherwise, your application for JEE Main January/April 2023 will be rejected.

      If the status of fee payment is showing as NOT OKAY. you would need to make the application fee payment again. The fee that you have paid right now will be refunded to you in the next 5-7 working days.
