As JEE Main 2026 is scheduled to be conducted in January and April 2026, NTA has released the examination details for the year. While the Information Bulletin for JEE Main 2026 does not provide the list of participating institutes, it reaffirms that admissions through JEE Main will continue across NITs, IIITs, SFIs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) as per the admission processes governed by JoSAA/CSAB.

If you clear JEE Main 2026, you will be eligible to take admission into the institutes participating in admission through JEE Main. Apart from clearing the JEE Main examination, you must also meet the cutoff scores and other eligibility criteria to secure admission into B.Tech., B. Arch., and B. Planning undergraduate programs.

Following is a list of Institutions which have been admitting students based on JEE Main scores and rankings. The final list of institutions admitting students through JEE Main 2026 (along with seat intake and category-wise distribution) will be available on the website of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) in May/June 2026, as confirmed in prior years and reiterated by NTA that it is not the admission authority and does not issue these lists.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – JEE Main 2026 Participating Institutes

How is the final list of institutes participating in JEE Main 2026 released?

The final and authoritative list of institutes participating in admissions through JEE Main 2026 is released by JoSAA/CSAB before the counselling season begins. While the broad set of institutes—such as NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs—remains largely consistent each year, only the JoSAA list confirms the exact institutions, seat matrices and category-wise distribution for the current admission cycle.

Which institutes generally accept JEE Main scores for admission?

JEE Main scores are primarily used for admission into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Government-Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs) and several centrally or state-funded technical universities. In addition, many State universities, private engineering institutes, and deemed universities also accept JEE Main scores as part of their admission process.

Do all States in India use JEE Main scores for their engineering admissions?

Several States—including Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and others—use JEE Main scores wholly or partially for their B.Tech. admissions. However, not all States follow this model. Some conduct their own entrance examinations, while others offer a hybrid approach where JEE Main is one of the accepted pathways. Candidates should check each State’s counselling authority for precise details.

Is clearing JEE Main enough to secure a seat in NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs?

Clearing JEE Main makes you eligible, but admission depends on several factors:
– Your All India Rank (AIR)
– Meeting the minimum marks or percentile requirement in your Class 12 examination
– Fulfilling the subject combination required for the chosen program
– The availability of seats, cutoffs, reservation norms and preferences during JoSAA/CSAB counselling
Simply qualifying does not guarantee a seat; admission is merit- and preference-based.

Can private or deemed universities also participate in admissions through JEE Main 2026?

Yes. Many reputed private universities and self-financed deemed institutions choose to participate in the CSAB admission process or independently use JEE Main scores to admit students to their engineering programs. Each institution may have its own admission guidelines, but JEE Main scores often play an important role in the selection process.
