How to crack NEET in First Attempt

You must be really anxious to know how to crack NEET in your first attempt and how to score 600+ marks in that very first attempt. Wondering what strategy you should take to crack NEET right in your first attempt that too with 600+ marks and what are those easy tips to crack NEET? Obviously that’s what brings you here. Everybody around you must be eager to load you with tips to crack NEET. Most would guide you that you should know the syllabus well, the examination pattern and refer you a lot of books. Some of them would also tell you with a lot of emphasis that you should make a time-table and focus on your weaker topics to crack NEET in first attempt.

But my question is, are these tips enough to crack NEET? Many of you would have read the NCERT books many a times and learnt everything by heart. Every page of the book mugged up! Probably, many of you would be in a position to reproduce the entire NCERT chapters. How many of you have been able to crack NEET with a top rank in the past NEET or AIPMT attempts?

Let me share the secrets – the tricks and tips to crack NEET or AIIMS or JIPMER in the first attempt.

If you are expecting that I would tell you to study for 10-12 hours a day or work very hard and revise or all the topics till the last moment or make your revision notes or suggest you special books, you are highly mistaken. These are old timer tips. Don’t work with today’s modern generation.

So, here are a few of the tips and tricks which would help you crack your NEET exam without fear:

1.  Draw up a Strategy for cracking NEET

The secret lies beyond all that routine and standard tips. The biggest secret is to prepare for NEET in the manner in which you have to be evaluated in the ultimate test. Understand the objective of NEET. Understand the competition in the NEET. Draw your strategy to crack NEET accordingly.

If you are enrolled for coaching, think again before it’s too late. You still have time for a corrective action.  If you are self-studying, revisit your strategy and approach. If you are spending all the day in watching video tutorials, think again.

So, the first tip to crack NEET in the first attempt is that you should draw up a well-crafted strategy, after a careful consideration of every factor.

2.  What should your strategy entail?

Strategies are formed for achieving an objective like a mission or a war like situation. Your strategy to crack NEET should answer the following questions:

  1. What’s expected of me during NEET examination? (Think as if you are going to set the paper for selecting the best talent for admission to medical colleges. Now, you know the expected difficulty level in the examination.)
  2. How are my competitors going to prepare for NEET?
  3. Am I preparing the same way as my competitors are preparing or differently?

How would my existing method of preparation help me crack NEET?

3.  Stop reading the topic again and again like a fool

You can only mug up the topics for success in school boards but not in NEET. To crack NEET, you need in-depth knowledge of the concepts and ability to think and apply such concept and understanding in a meaningful manner.

I have seen many students in the coaching classes. In the monthly tests, a student is advised that he is weak in such and such topic. The teacher would tell him to work harder and focus on these weaker areas. Now what this poor student does is to come back home and start reading those topics again and again. In the next test, his performance does not improve. Why? Can you tell me the reason for this? Yes, this could have definitely helped him in school tests but definitely not in NEET. If you ever need to study a chapter for your NEET preparations, you should read it in pull-based manner.

So, the next tip to crack NEET is that you should focus more and more on practice, if you are really serious at cracking NEET.

4.  Practice as much as possible

You must be knowing - practice is the key to success! Practice gives you the ability to attain perfection in any area of life and so is true with cracking NEET also. With practice, the knowledge level increases, the test-taking ability improves and on top of that your confidence also improves. I want you to be walking into the examination hall with the greatest confidence. Practice can only help you definitely but it’s equally important that you know how to practice the right way so that you can crack NEET with a top rank.

5.  Select a good quality question bank for practice

You need to identify a good question bank for NEET and practice all the questions. The question bank should contain questions covering all of the NEET syllabus and should not low level questions which are not asked for in NEET. You should avoid a question bank which has repetitive questions or questions which involve the same concept but having different language pattern. Also please ensure that the size of the question bank is such that you can complete the entire question bank within the time period that is available with you.

Of course, identifying a good question bank is an uphill task. The best of the best coaching institutes would not have the right question bank, which you can practice in a limited time.

Do not …  I repeat … do not select a question bank which has school board level questions in it. You are not going to appear for your school boards and don’t commit this mistake. It’s often said that NCERT books are sufficient for NEET. Probably true. But keeping the same syllabus and same topics and concepts, the difficulty and complexity level increase in NEET and increase further in AIIMS. My all others tips to crack NEET would not work, if you practice poor quality questions.

6.  Repeatedly revise all the Incorrectly attempted questions

What most of you would do is to practice all the question and be happy with 60% - 80% success rate and hope that with 70-80% success rate, you would be able to top NEET.  Rather, with this mindset, you are hurting yourself. Actually, you gain proficiency only for easy question and medium level questions  and you miss all the hard level question which you should have, in all circumstances, prepared for NEET.

And here's the last but not the least and the most important tip to crack NEET - revise all your incorrectly attempted question repeatedly and bookmark important questions so that you gain perfection in attempting a question having same or similar concept or trick. You can learn more about the best ways to revise for success in NEET here.

So, these are some of the tricks and tips for cracking NEET or for that matter any competitive examination in life. What we do in life for winning over our competitors, we need to do the same here, where you know that your competitors are more than 15 lakhs in numbers and comprise best of the brains.

But you don’t feel nervous by the number of 15 lakhs. Keep cool. Learn about the smart preparations course for success in NEET and experience it free. I bet, you can’t find anything better anywhere in the world.

Do write to me for any queries or comments. I would be pleased to reply to your queries and comments and provide you more tips to crack NEET.

Sir ncert books are enough for neet 2019??
    •
      CareerOrbits

      Hi Muthu,
The syllabus of NCERT books matches more or less with the NEET Syllabus. NCERT books cover more or less the entire syllabus. However, the complexity of the questions is a bit more than the NCERT books. You should focus on developing your test taking skills and practice a good question bank of NEET thoroughly.

would you advise me how to prepare neet 2019? I am poor in physics.
    •
      CareerOrbits
      Hi Pranay,
To learn how to prepare for NEET, follow the steps as given in this video.
Physics is generally a most feared subject for most of the NEET students. Noteworthy part is that it's not that you guys do't understand physics, but you are not able to solve the problems in physics. I would suggest you to practice thoroughly with our NEET Question Bank where you get detailed step-by-step solutions for every problem in physics, chemistry and biology. Repeated practice of these questions through revision lists and bookmark list would help you grasp the steps steps involved and you can become perfect in physics too.

    Uday
Hello, Very nice information article. I am in 11th right now, so how can I get regular tests for practice. I have also not joined any coaching classes and whenever I try to get tests online, I get a whole portion of 11th and 12th class which is nearly impossible for me to understand. Please recommend me the answer to this problem. Please recommend me a good course for physics and chemistry where I can get MCQs or tests. It will be really helpful for me to appear in NEET 2020. Also I study for nearly 4-5 hours per day but have no idea how shall I prepare myself for physics and chemistry ???

      Hey Uday,
Do not lose hope. You need to follow a systematic approach to crack NEET in your first attempt with 600+ marks. You should take a look at the NEET Online Preparation Course. This course is designed to meet your needs. You can practice MCQs based on any of the chapters as per your desired level of difficulty. Also you get chapter wise tests which will cover only a select portion of your 11th and 12th syllabus.

I suggest you to take a free trial of the NEET 2020 preparation course and see how much this course can help in increasing the score.

Hi Mohana, It's not necessary to join any coaching institute to crack NEET. You can simply prepare on your own by learning the concepts and practicing questions based on these concepts to become an expert in the NEET topics.

    Ritu Saini

I have been studying in a coaching institute since april 2018 to prepare for neet 2020 but i am losing all hopes of clearing the exam as the level of syllabus taught is so much more of a burden...i don't get enough time for self study..what can i do in this case?

    •
      CareerOrbits

I am wondering how could this harsh fact dawn upon you so soon. Most of the students realise this too late, may be after wasting one or two years in coaching and many of them don't even realise this even after several attempts.
Let's define NEET preparation in very simple steps:
Understanding the Syllabus: You must realise that the syllabus for NEET is more or less common with your 11th and 12th class syllabus. Since, you would be due for NEET 2020, National Testing Agency (NTA) is most likely to start conducting the NEET exam. The Govt. plans to duly consider the various state board syllabi for the upcoming NEET. Once NTA is in place, the syllabus is also expected to be easier and in line with your state board syllabus.
Since, it is the same syllabus that you would be studying in school, the coaching is more or less waste of time. Your school has provided you with the best of qualified teachers who know the psychology of the students. Trust your school teachers for concept building. Some coaching institutes even mess up with the concepts and that's disastrous.
Understanding the Concepts: First thing NEET demands is conceptual understanding and conceptual clarity. Since the syllabus for NEET perfectly coincides with 11th and 12th school syllabus, your school teachers are the best for developing and strengthening your conceptual understanding.
So, the coaching would simply be wasting your time in repeating the same concepts either ahead of your school lectures or after your school lectures (in any case, not in sync with your school study plan), it's understandably painful and frustrating for you.
Developing Test Taking Skills: Besides the conceptual understanding what NEET demands is your ability to apply those concepts which you have learnt in your 11th and 12th class on to the NEET level questions. So, obviously you need to focus more on developing your test taking skills instead of wasting your time with these coaching institutes.
I would suggest you to have a look at this short video at https://www.careerorbits.com/medical-video01. This would give you very valuable insights into the manner in which you should prepare for NEET.
It's good you have realised the futility and frustration arising out of coaching sooner. It's just beginning. Take a call now and start doing self preparations at home. You may contact a counsellor at our help desk who would assist you in clearing your dilemma and frustration.

How can i clear my NEET 2018 exam in just 4 month please answer me sir
    •
      CareerOrbits

To Clear NEET in 4 months may not be as tough a task as to score a rank in NEET in 4 months so that you get MBBS seat in Govt. Medical College. I hope, you understand the difference. In either case, nothing to worry. Just need to prepare with our NEET Crash Course. You just need to ensure that you have practiced all the questions given in the practice question bank and have cleared all your revision lists in the NEET Crash Course. Given that you have 120 days to go for NEET exam, you would need to practice and prepare about 100 questions per day. Brush up your concepts through the smart interactive glossary and don't invest, rather waste time in going through the study material unless you are pretty weak in any topic. Start as early as possible. For any help, never hesitate to speak to the counsellors at our helpdesk.

Will i get 600+ if I just complete all the questions given here and not anything from outside...I have almost done my bio part but I still am left with many chapters to practice for physics ...Plz reply
    •
      CareerOrbits

You can easily target 600+ with the questions given to you in practice question bank and mock test series. BUT, you not only need to practice all these questions, you also need to practice the questions in your revision lists and clear all your revision lists. Physics and Chemistry you need to urgently start working hard upon. The students in previous attempts have been able to score 600+ with the help of these questions. We can definitely hope that any student who practices all these questions thoroughly would be able to score 600+ the coming year too. Wishing you a grand success!

    Senthil
Hi, I am NEET repeater my name is Senthil before neet I got 185 marks. Now I am Aakash institute coaching going. Is it enough to get above 600 if I take your repeater course? How it is possible
    •
      CareerOrbits

With your first hand experience at giving NEET last year, you must have realised your weaknesses. Whichever institute you join, it does not matter. The only thing that matters is how much do you practice (number of questions), what all do you practice (quality of questions) and how you practice (methodology for practicing questions). Attending lectures and reading books would leave you seriously short of the required skills to crack NEET with 600 or 650+ marks.
You need to practice good number of practice questions but with a large number of questions you would not be able to finish your practice for chapters. If you are practicing low level questions or questions with repeated concepts, you are simply wasting your time. If you are practicing without getting doubt clearance, your practice is simple self assessment and does not help you improve your score. If you waste hours grappling to get a doubt clearance or fail to get doubt clearance, you won't be able to crack NEET with 600+ marks.
With our NEET Repeater Course, you get sufficiently good number of questions which you can cover with a bit extra effort in your time schedule. The questions are of NEET and AIIMS level only and every care has been taken to ensure that similar questions do not appear in the practice questions. For every question, you get doubt clearance right there and then so that your precious time is not wasted. You just need to click the 'Solution' button and details step-by-step doubt clearance appears on your screen so that your doubts are cleared in less than a minute.
We also create your personal revision list for all questions which you wrongly attempt. You need to practice all such questions at least three times correctly. Practicing these questions at least three times correctly ensures that you have mastered the concepts involved in the question.
There are more features to pace up your preparations and ensure perfection in your preparations which you can realise during free trial of the course. Like all our other students, if you practice all the given practice questions in the course and leave none in your revision list, even 680 is achievable. Please feel free to ask us any more questions or call our help-desk.

I am really feeling very frightened for attending neet..I don't no why..since I have not joined any coachings I feel too nervous...I feel that all my friends have joined coachings so they would feel it very easy...N sometimes whenever I m not able to understand concepts I feel scared...that I would not able to crack neet....what shall I do??
    •
      CareerOrbits

Ask your friends who have joined coaching how frightened even they are feeling. You are feeling frightened, sitting in isolation. Trust me only 1-2% of your friends who have joined coaching would be able to make it to a good Govt. medical college. Joining a coaching institute has become a fashion. Students join coaching institutes under peer pressure. I am talking about the kind of pressure that you have described.
Relax my dear. Take a deep breath. Don't lose confidence. Whether your friends are able to crack NEET or not but with your self-studies, hard work and conviction in yourself, you would definitely make it. Don't let negativity pull you down. Stay focused and keep working hard.
To reinforce your conviction in self studies and being able to do it all by yourself, you may consider joining the NEET Preparation Courses by CareerOrbits. Not only your doubts are instantly taken care of, you can pull out definition and key formula or detailed study note behind any concept, just on a click. Yes, remember to make your revision lists and clear all your revision lists before the NEET exam.
Your friends who joined coaching are at distinct disadvantage compared to you because they waste lot of their time in commuting to coaching, attending lectures on topics which they have already heard in school and in local tuition and still when it comes to doubt clearance, the coaching classes do not get any doubt clearance worth it. If you think that coaching classes would have worked on you in clarifying and explaining everything that you fail to understand, you are highly mistaken. Coaching classes do not have time to spend on every student individually to that level.
So, believe in yourself and don't get frightened. Shoo your fears away and keep going with self-preparations. Even these coaching students would not be able to crack NEET unless they do self-study at home. Regarding doubts and understanding, I have already given you a magic solution. All the best!

    Thyagarajan J.
Indeed obliged to have such clear tips to crack NEET. I have not prepared as yet anything for NEET 2018. I am currently in 12th standard from Tamilnadu State Board. I am told that we need to study NCERT books. Sir, my question is if I would need to study NCERT books apart from my Tamilnadu State Board syllabus. I have limited time. Kindly advise how to go about it. I don't wish to miss the 2018 NEET attempt. Sir, is there any specific tip to Crack NEET for me? Please accept my gratitude in advance.
    •
      CareerOrbits

@ Thyagarajan, you do not need to worry. Afterall syllabus of any state board or for that matter syllabus of Tamilnadu State Board is more or less the same as CBSE. There could be a difference of 5-10% in the syllabus. The NCERT books are based on CBSE syllabus. NCERT books are definitely standard books but you don't need to start reading NCERT books all over again. After all principles of Physics, Chemistry and Biology are the same universally.
I would suggest you to focus on practicing questions from CareerOrbits courses. You should practice all the questions, approx 8-9,000 questions given to you in the practice tests in our courses. At an average of 60-70 questions a day, you can still prepare for NEET with a target of 600+. Your preparation speed is much faster when you prepare with CareerOrbits because you don't have to waste your time in grappling to get the right answer or run for doubt clearance. You get doubt clearance on every question on just a click. This speeds up your preparation and learning both.
Stay focused on practice. Attempt all teh questions in the practice tests and clear all your revision lists. You can easily crack NEET with 600+ and even 650+ score. All the best.

    Ragini
Thanks for nice tips to crack NEET-PMT. I am a 3rd time repeater, pursuing B.Sc. now. Now, I understand what mistakes I committed while preparing for NEET in previous attempts. But, I am still confused which material and books to prepare from and if I can manage my preparations in next 6 months so that I am able to crack NEET with at least 560+ in NEET 2018. I would be sincerely obliged to your kind help and guidance.
    •
      CareerOrbits

Ragini, firstly you don't have time to read all the books. Secondly reading the books would not help you much because you have already studied PCB in 11th and 12th. What you need is a solid practice of the questions of the level which come in NEET and AIIMS to be able to crack NEET this time. I would suggest you to simply focus on the questions given in 'NEET UG Repeater Course'. Don't leave any question in the practice question bank. Every question which you wrongly attempt is added to your Revision List. Clear all your Revision List(s) by repeatedly practicing these questions. Repeatedly practicing on your weaker areas is far better and effective than repeatedly reading the chapters. With our courses, you don;t need to buy any additional books.
Why to keep the target at 560+? To crack NEET, keep the target at 650+ or at least 600+ to eb able to make it a decent Govt. medical college. Feel free to speak to our counsellors at the helpdesk to guide you personally. All the best.

    S.R.THIRUVANTHICKA
Very nice tips....really helpful....it had increased my confidence level....but still little confused which question bank to choose up!!! Usually if you suggest some good guides, even it is useful also everyone will think as if it is like an advertisement....BUT SOME LIKE ME ARE REALLY BELONGING FOR GOOD GUIDES OR QUESTION BANKS ......
    •
      CareerOrbits

There should not be any confusion. Even the best things need to be advertised else how would the target audience get to know about it. So, take ti easy. Caveat emptor is a Latin term that means "let the buyer beware." So, experience the free trial before you buy so that you know exactly what you are going to get. Be it NEET Question Bank or NEET Test Series or NEET Study Notes, you can experience the best before you take a plunge.

    Netra .s
I am currently in 11th now can I start preparing for neet or still wait for concepts to be over in my class and cleared to me ...
    •
      CareerOrbits

Hi Netra. NEET is a regular preparation. What do you mean by preparing for NEET. If you are thorough with the understanding of the concepts taught to you in school, you are 50 percent done with the NEET preparations. Rest 50 percent of NEET Preparation would come through regular and repeated practice. Keep practicing the NEET level questions side by side as a chapter is taught to you in the school. So that you have practiced all the NEET level questions leisurely without the pressure piling up on you. You may like to watch this short video at https://www.careerorbits.com/medical-video01. This would give you very valuable insights into the manner in which you should prepare for NEET.
Please feel free to contact a counsellor at our help desk who would assist you in your planning.

Hiii I m not going any class it is my first attempt for neet exam in my hand there are only 189 days I m reading ncert textbook Can u help me
    •
      CareerOrbits

Preparing for NEET in 189 days does sound challenging. But there's a way out. You can still target 600+ in these 189 days. The fire in you is apparent when you have been focusing on each passing day with the countdown for NEET 2018 having begun.
Now stop reading your NCERT books and start focus on practicing questions. You can start with the NEET Preparation Course and practice 100-150 questions daily. You get approx 10-12k questions in this course. just practice all these questions and leave none. You would be a shining star. The questions which you practice wrongly, get added to your revision lists. Please note that you need to practice all the questions in your revision lists at least three time correctly to get perfection and be able to score 600+. If ever you fail to recollect a concept or key formula, while going through the detailed doubt clearance, just click on that concept/term and you would be able to pull out the study note relating to that term. Trust me, 189 days are more than enough to prepare wonderfully well for NEET if you follow the instructions here. Please don't get strayed for cheap question banks or unsolved question banks issued by various coaching institutes. Stay focused and I am sure, you would be there.
